At the end of every year we take some time to look back and reflect on everything we experienced. Accomplishments as well as opportunities for improvement. We feel it’s important to look at both as this creates a better road map for personal and professional growth. 2014 was a year of great change for us. Truly remarkable to meet and work with so many new brides, vendors and venues. It was also reassuring to see how our individual artistic visions continued to grow and fuse together as a team. A style that we feel makes us unique and different. Our wedding photography also provided gateways to all new destinations such as Jamaica and India. We are so grateful for all the experiences of the past year and we look forward to 2015 for more of the same. Obviously they’re moments we are proud of and we’d like to share those with you. The following is a collection of our favorites photos of 2014.
We hope everyone is doing well and having a great start to the New Year. 2014 was truly special as we grew by leaps and bounds. So many fantastic experiences with friends, family, industry peers, and of course, with all the wedding couples we were able to work with. We sincerely want to thank each and every one of you for your support. Even if we didn’t get a chance to work with you on a wedding, we still value your consideration in taking a look at us in the first place. Over the past few years our current branding has served us well and brought us to the point we are now. However as we enter a new phase of growth, and a new year, we felt it was time for a visual refresh. Our mission, our service, and the values we stand for remain the same. We continue to offer modern, fine art wedding photojournalism to couples that truly appreciate imagery beyond pictures. We’re just sprucing things up a bit.
With that in mind, we’re excited to introduce the new Viridian Images!
Yep, the whole nine yards. A new logo, a new website, and new marketing materials, among many other enhancements. The goal behind the new look? Simplicity, clarity and a better visual experience. In particular our website was designed with this vision. So we’ve added new image galleries and sliders, more info surrounding our services and products, links to some of the best vendor partners in the business and a more interactive blog. But this is just the start. In the coming weeks and months we will continue to introduce new content and services that speak to our culture and the art we want to create with you.
This refresh could not have been completed without the incredible help and patience of many special friends that we want to acknowledge.

It’s been a fast paced summer this year for us, filled with various photo assignments. In between engagement sessions and weddings we were so pleased to receive a call from Modern Luxury to shoot a multi-page feature for their Men’s Book magazine fall release. This Porsche inspired shoot mixed high end men’s fashion with beautiful cars and their owners across Atlanta. Special thanks to Jim Ellis Porsche and Miller Brothers Limited for their specific contributions to the project. Layered across various locations in Atlanta including 3109 Piedmont Estate in Buckhead, 7 different shoots were conducted to create this eight page feature. From Castangia cashmere wool sport coats to a 430 horsepower 50th anniversary edition 911, high-class style was everywhere. I must say we really had a soft spot for the perfectly restored 1958 356A Sunroof Coupe Porsche! What a perfect car this would be for an engagement session or for a wedding exit, but I digress. It was a total pleasure working with all the fine resources that made this project a success.

We are so excited to introduce Iain and Katja! This couple has a style all there own, highlighted by their awesome sense of humor and their two pups. Fun, carefree, smart and funny, they had us laughing all throughout the session. What a great couple to have when the weather doesn’t necessarily cooperate. When we arrived at Whitewater Creek, we were met with heavy showers and thunderstorms. “No problem, it’s just rain” That’s the first thing they said. So off we went. After 30 minutes of rain, rays of sunlight started streaming through pockets of dispersing clouds. What’s more, a steamy fog developed over the river, providing such a unique atmosphere. So off to the water’s edge we went, where we spent the remainder of our session. We can’t wait to spend even more time with them in November for their Lake Lanierfall wedding!

Ryan and Siera’s wedding was not just a one day event. It was a weekend adventure that included many special activities from Friday through Sunday. On the previous post we were able to review all the moments from the wedding itself, which included the getting ready images, the first look and the ceremony. However, this post is all about everything else that occurred throughout the days spent on this beautiful island. The casual moments with their family and friends. First we’ll look back at the Catamaran ocean cruise followed by Saturday’s evening party. Finally we’ll jump back to the wedding day to catch up with the reception. Hopefully this will provide a great feel for the entire weekend. The video slideshow attached to this post also helps summarize everything in just a matter of minutes. The Roswell Mill is a favorite amongst couples for engagement session for a good reason. With so many scenic views easily accessible, it’s hard to beat the variety of options available for a photo shoot. So this easily became the choice for our setting. On this afternoon we had the pleasure of working with Travis and Lisa. A few weeks ago we photographed the wedding of Charles (Chuck) and Betsy. I met Betsy over coffee at Starbucks to talk about her wedding and how we could capture it for her. I was referred to her by a mutual friend and from the moment I met her I knew we had to work together. She is the sweetest, most kind young lady I’ve met. Hearing her describe in detail a recent trip to Japan demonstrates how she enjoys experiencing other cultures. That fascinated me. So young and so adventurous!
She also talked extensively about her fiance and how they met. At first they were just friends but in time that friendship very quickly blossomed into a beautiful relationship. Now you can just see his eyes light up whenever she arrives.
All throughout they day of the wedding the emotions flowed, from the moment her father first saw his little girl in her dress, to the moment when the couple exchanged vows. It’s really beautiful to see how this wedding came together with the help of family and friends. That’s why I love weddings. I get a front row seat to every story and those moments live forever in photographs. It’s actually quite special.

Every wedding has its own inherent beauty, regardless of its setting. However there is something extra special about a beach wedding. The ocean breeze, the relaxed carefree atmosphere and of course, the sand in your feet. Negril, Jamaica served as the perfect spot for Ryan & Siera’s beautiful wedding. Believe it or not, we first met this super couple last year over a Skype call. They call San Diego home so they knew they wanted to import their photography from the states. So they began their search all the way from California. As it turns out, they came across our website and two calls later we were planning for their wedding!
Ryan, a former Georgetown Hoya basketball player met Siera in Washington D.C. shortly after she moved there in 2007 following her graduation from Cornell and a new job opportunity. They met through some friends and the rest is history. They kept a strong relationship as they both pursued MBA’s ultimately settling in San Diego as they planned for their big day. Ryan is as smooth as silk in his demeanor and one of the easiest people to get along with. Siera is a beautiful, loving spark plug of energy. It’s no wonder Ryan fell head over heels for her. Something incredibly unique about their wedding comes from their decision to not have a bridal party. Instead, Siera requested that each of her closest friends gift her a bracelet that met something special to them and that defined their relationship with her. She then wore every one of the bracelets at her wedding, as all her friends stood in attendance. No favorites, just every special person accounted for on her wrists. We had never seen something so cool before! Going back to our initial Skype call, when we first met them, we had no idea of little details like this. Heck we just met them over an Internet phone call! Still, I remember that as soon as we hung up the phone we said to each other “These are the type of people we want to work with”. Sure enough, this turned out to be one of the best wedding experiences we’ve had the chance to document. Over this wedding weekend we came away with many images. What follows are the photographs for the primary portions of the wedding. Please stay tuned for a second blog post where we will share many of the behind the scenes events before the wedding including a beautiful catamaran cruise on the ocean. Many thanks to Gail and the entire team at the Negril Treehouse Resort. They handled everything from start to finish and there is no better way to spend a beach vacation, than in a warm and charming resort like this.

So to be perfectly honest, we had a huge curve ball come our way for this session. Here we are on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, ready to shoot an engagement session, when we discover the spot we had used before was not accessible at that time. Thank goodness we always prepare for “plan B”. I’m all about the contingency plan. Our second option actually became the ideal spot for our time with James and Valerie. Sometimes unexpected curve balls are good. Whitewater Creek Park was rocking on this day. The water was almost as smooth as glass and the sun created the best pockets of glowing leaves within the trees. We had such a great time with these two love birds (yes…so cliché )! They have a wonderful sense of humor and a willingness to try anything. However, you can probably tell for yourself from the images below. We absolutely adore them. Thanks again James and Valerie for allowing us to play a part of this special time in your lives.
