A Love Story That Began in the Bamboo Forest

Before saying “I do” against the glittering Atlanta skyline, Ashley and Thad first stepped in front of our cameras for their engagement session at the Bamboo Forest along the Chattahoochee River. Surrounded by towering bamboo and golden light, their playful, romantic energy set the stage for what would become an unforgettable wedding day.

Getting Ready in the Heart of Atlanta

The day began just steps away from Ventanas. Ashley got ready at the Ritz-Carolton Atlanta, where her suite overlooked the city. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as she shared fun moments with her bridal party before slipping into her gown. Meanwhile, Thad prepared at the stylish W Hotel downtown, with modern details and a sophisticated vibe.

By choosing hotels so close to Ventanas, Ashley and Thad kept their morning stress-free while staying immersed in the vibrant energy of the city.

Why Ventanas Is One of Atlanta’s Top Wedding Venues

Nestled in the heart of downtown, Ventanas is more than just a venue, it’s an experience. From its sleek modern architecture to floor-to-ceiling glass walls framing panoramic skyline views, it’s an unforgettable setting for luxury weddings.

Couples especially love the open-air terrace for ceremonies and the exclusive rooftop helipad, which offers a rare 360-degree view of Atlanta, a signature feature that sets Ventanas apart as one the city’s top wedding venues.

A First Look on the Helipad

Ashley and Thad’s first look atop the Ventanas helipad was a moment straight out of a movie. High above the city, with skyscrapers rising around them, they shared a private exchange that was both emotional and exhilarating. This intimate time together set the tone for the rest of the day, filled with joy, love, and a touch of bold adventure.

The open air, golden light, and urban energy combined to create a ceremony that was both breathtaking and deeply personal.

Ceremony Plans Shift—But the Romance Stays Strong

Originally planned for the outdoor patio with breathtaking mountain views, the ceremony was moved indoors as waves of scattered showers came and went throughout the morning. But thanks to the accordion-style folding doors inside the venue, the beauty of the outdoors was still present, bringing in soft natural light and glimpses of the misty Blue Ridge Mountains.

Gelyse & Jerome’s Rainy Day Celebration | Villa Christina Wedding

July 16, 2025 0 Weddings

Bride and groom embrace in elegant indoor space at Villa Christina on a rainy wedding day

When Gelyse and Jerome planned their wedding day, they pictured portraits in Villa Christina’s gardens, soft natural light, and a cozy outdoor atmosphere. What they got was rain, wind and chilly weather—but that didn’t stop their day from becoming unforgettable.

From a heartfelt ceremony at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses to a joyful celebration at Villa Christina, their wedding was a beautiful reflection of their love, faith, and the people who mean the most to them. And while the skies were gray, the spirit of the day was anything but.

Getting Ready with Their Closest Friends

Gelyse and Jerome began their day at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina, where both the bridal and groom suites offered the perfect space to relax, connect, and prepare for the celebration ahead.

In the bridal suite, Gelyse was surrounded by her bridesmaids, all buzzing with excitement. Laughter echoed through the room as music played, and everyone gushing over Gelyse when she got into her gown. The natural light from the windows gave us a beautiful setting for soft, emotional portraits—especially during the reveal moment with her girls.

Meanwhile, Jerome and his groomsmen were in good spirits, sharing memories, adjusting ties, and enjoying the calm before the storm. There’s something about that energy—laid-back but full of purpose—that always sets the tone for a meaningful day.

Getting ready at the Hyatt Regency provided a comfortable and convenient space, especially with the weather keeping everyone indoors. And from a photography standpoint, it allowed us to document some truly authentic behind-the scenes moments with both groups. Plus, the hotel’s sleek interiors added a modern, polished backdrop for those early-day moments we love to document.

First Look Portraits at Villa Christina

One of the most emotional parts of Gelyse and Jerome’s day was their first look, held near the grand staircase of the Hyatt Regency. Jerome’s reaction the moment he saw Gelyse said everything—pure love, excitement, and gratitude. The private moment gave them time to connect before the ceremony, settle nerves, and soak in the reality of the day. These are the kinds of moments we love to document—raw, unscripted, and deeply personal.

A Ceremony Centered on Faith and Commitment

As we entered the next phase with a meaningful ceremony at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, we see Gelyse and Jerome stand in front of loved ones and made promises that carried deep spiritual significance.

There was something powerful about the simplicity of the ceremony. The focus stayed where it mattered most: on love, commitment, and shared beliefs. It was an intimate and sincere part from day filled with heartfelt moments.

Turning Limitations into Art Indoors

With constant rain and cold weather, our original portrait plan needed to shift indoors. Gelyse had envisioned lush garden backdrops, but instead, we turned our attention to the indoor spaces—and the results were nothing short of extraordinary.

We used every architectural detail we could find at Villa Christina and neighboring Hyatt Regency Hotel to build impactful, story-driven images. From the sweeping staircase to the dramatic chandelier, every corner offered something unique.

One of the standout portraits came from a place no one would expect—a narrow hallway next to a bank of elevators. With thoughtful lighting, composition, and direction, it became one of our most recognized and awarded images of the year.

This approach is a perfect reminder that creativity isn’t limited by environment—it’s often enhanced by it.

The Staircase, the Chandelier, and Striking Composition

Villa Christina is known for its beautiful gardens, but its indoor architecture offers just as much potential for elegant photography. We embraced the contrast of soft emotion with bold design—pairing Gelyse and Jerome’s warm connection with structured, modern backdrops.

The grand staircase became the setting for timeless bridal portraits, while the glow of the chandelier added dimension and drama. Every pose, every frame, was carefully composed to bring out the couple’s personalities while showcasing the venue’s architectural beauty.

A Wedding Party That Brought the Energy

Rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits—especially not the wedding party.

From the moment we met them, Gelyse and Jerome’s crew brought pure energy. They supported the couple with laughter, positivity, and enthusiasm all day long. Whether we were navigating indoor locations or squeezing in quick group photos, their joy was contagious.

And when the reception began, they took the celebration to a whole new level. This was a group that knew how to show up, have fun, and make the couple feel fully celebrated.

A Father-Daughter Dance That Moved the Room

Later in the evening, the reception slowed down for one of the most emotional parts of the day: the father-daughter dance.

Gelyse and her father held each other close as they shared this moment, both visibly moved. Tears streamed down their faces, and you could feel the depth of their bond in every step. There was silence in the room—everyone watching, feeling the weight and beauty of that moment.

It’s moments like these that define a wedding day—not just the decorations or the timeline, but the raw emotion that stays with you long after the last song plays.

From Rain to Celebration: A Reception Full of Life

Villa Christina’s ballroom was warm, elegant, and full of life by the time the evening hit full swing. The reception was a true celebration of everything Gelyse and Jerome had built together.

Even though the weather outside never let up, inside was filled with warmth, laughter, and connection. It was the dind of night that reminded everyone why weddings matter—not because of the details, but because of the people and the feelings they bring with them.

Final Thoughts

Gelyse and Jerome’s Villa Christina wedding is a testament to the idea that even when a day doesn’t go exactly as planned, it can still be everything you hoped for—and more.

With creative portrature, heartfelt moments and a celebration that brought together all the right people, this wedding proved that beauty exists in every space—sometimes even outside an elevator.

An Intimate Wedding with Closest Family and Friends

In a world of grand wedding productions, Stephanie and Michael intentionally kept their guest list small. This allowed them to spend real, meaningful time with every guest and created a warm, relaxed energy throughout the day.

From the prep to the speeches, there was a sense of closeness that only happens at an intimate wedding. Their families helped with thoughtful touches — like hand-written vows, homemade desserts, and surprise speeches — that made the day unforgettable.

Ceremony with a View

The couple exchanged vows in front of an outdoor fireplace in the lawn during the late afternoon sun. Golden sunlight streamed through the nearby trees as Stephanie and her father walked down the aisle. Michael, holding back tears, waited by his sister and the officiant.

The ceremony was short, sweet, and heartfelt. Every word felt personal and intentional, And yes, there were happy tears all around.

Golden Hour Portraits in the Vineyard

After the ceremony, we snuck away for golden hour portraits among the vines. This is one of our favorite parts of the day to photograph because the light at Yonah Mountain is nothing short of amazing. With the mountain behind them and the vineyard glowing in golden tones, Stephanie and Michael looked like something out of a painting. Then we moved into the cellar and wine room for some more romantic images.

A Beautiful Outdoor Ceremony

Bri, as a member relations director at a popular metro Atlanta country club, had a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the elements that make a wedding truly unforgettable. The couple chose to exchange their vows in the embrace of nature, surrounded by their friends and family. The outdoor ceremony at The Country Club of the South showcased the couple’s love for the outdoors and their desire to share their commitment in a serene and breathtaking setting.

The carefully curated decor incorporated elements of nature, with a floral arch adorned with vibrant blooms and delicate greenery serving as the backdrop for the ceremony. As the sun dipped low in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the proceedings, Bri and Corey professed their love and devotion to each other, their voices carrying through the air, and their words etching themselves in the hearts of their loved ones.

Sparkler Exit

After an unforgettable ceremony, the celebration continued into the night, with a sparkler exit that added an extra touch of magic and excitement to the festivities. As darkness enveloped the surroundings, guests lined up outside, holding sparklers that illuminated the night sky with a shimmering glow.

Bri and Corey, radiating with happiness, walked hand in hand through the pathway of sparklers, surrounded by the cheers and well-wishes of their loved ones. The sparklers created a mesmerizing and unforgettable atmosphere, capturing the essence of the couple’s love and the joy of the occasion. It was a picture-perfect ending to a day filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt moments.

Intimate Micro Wedding — Roswell, GA | Florangel and Marino

September 26, 2022 0 Weddings

A micro wedding…what is that?

According to BRIDES magazine, a micro wedding is an intimate affair, typically with no more than 50 guests. They still feature time-honored traditions that make a wedding but on a much smaller scale. Why would a couple decide to forego a larger traditional celebration with that of something at a smaller scale? Well that was an easy answer for both Flor and Marino. For them this was a second marriage for both and although they wanted to celebrate it with friends and family, they didn’t want the reason for their union to get lost in a more grand or elaborate production. They wanted a more personal and intimate afternoon of good food, great wine and lots and lots of laughter.

First up was deciding on a venue. That was a no brainer. They both immediately decided on their favorite Roswell restaurant, Foundation Social Eatery off of Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell. Then who would design their intimate reception? None other than Marjorie DiFiore of Atlanta Stylish Point. Along with The Flower Garden created the most beautiful space to celebrate Flor and Marino’s love with their most special of friends and family. Come see for yourself how this beautiful wedding came together.

Nothing traditional here. Our couple entered together to let the guests know the ceremony is about to begin.

There was lots and lots of laughs during the ceremony by both the officiant and the couple.

Did we just get married? Both Flor and Marino couldn’t take their eyes off each other.

Flor surprised Marino with a commissioned piece of art depicting themselves for their intimate micro wedding day. Little did Flor know Marino would shave his beard for the wedding. It’s a great story nonetheless.

If they couldn’t see each other, they were constantly near each other not letting go. It was so sweet to witness.

As the event was winding down, we took Flor and Marino a few feet away to take some creative portraits and take advantage of their love for each other.

Let’s have an adventure

Flor and Marino wanted to have a post wedding adventure session. You don’t have to tell us twice. We were excited to photograph in Cloudland Canyon in Rising Fawn, Georgia. It’s a beautiful national park up in the northwest corner of the state. It’s a bear to get there with so many steps and stairs, but the view was well worth it. These two were up for anything we wanted, to the point of diving in and enjoying each other in the water by the waterfall. Talk about a couple that are game to do anything for the photo. They did not disappoint.

Both Flor and Marino love riding their BMW motorcycles that they’ve driven cross-country several times and were preparing for their next cross-country ride for their honeymoon. Is adventure in their blood? I think so.

Heritage Sandy Springs Wedding — Sandy Springs, GA | Emily and Jimmy

August 31, 2022 0 Weddings
romantic portrait through under an arbor of purple wisteria flowers

Blending two cultures—Chinese and Vietnamese—comes with a number of special ceremonies and traditions. Emily and Jimmy’s private ceremonies along with games involving the groom proving himself worthy of his bride blended perfectly on this cool spring day. You might remember them when we photographed their engagement session at Stone Mountain Park.

After we spent the morning at each of the family’s homes, we headed to Heritage Sandy Springs, where the official garden wedding ceremony followed by the reception were to take place. Emily and Jimmy opted for a first look before their wedding. We love when couples decide to go this route. It gives just enough time to create wonderful portraits of just the two of them without the stress of rushing through it during the short time allotted for cocktail hour. If you find yourself on the fence deciding whether to have a first look, we can help talk about the pros and pros (no that was not a typo). But don’t feel pressured. We will definitely work with what makes the two of you most comfortable. Take a look at just a few of the images we captured that beautiful spring afternoon at this quaint historically located garden.

Wedding at 550 Trackside by Atlanta Wedding Photographers Viridian Images Photography | Grace and Michael

June 9, 2020 0 Weddings
black and white wedding portrait with flare

Meeting our couple

When we last spent time with Michael and Grace it was during their spectacular engagement session at Ponce City Market and the Atlanta Beltline. It was there where we quickly came to appreciate their unique energy as a couple. Not to mention the fact that they love to travel the world as much as we do. So immediately we hit it off. Fast forward several months and here we are. Ready to document their big wedding day and we couldn’t be more thrilled to do so.

The wedding venue

Historic 550 Trackside was the scene of this memorable day. 550 began as a cotton warehouse in 1904 but across its storied existence it has also been known as The Langley General Store, The Mercantile Exchange, the Grinder and the Goldkist Building.

Made from granite pulled directly from Stone Mountain and 100-year-old wood it provides an elegant space perfect for occasions like this.

Tell me about the vibe

Really the word that best sums up the feeling for this wedding is relaxed. From the moment we arrived at the venue both the bride and groom were totally calm and enjoying the company of their closest friends. Not the usual nerves you see with so many other weddings. Since 550 Trackside has ample room, everyone was able to get ready at the venue. Guests arrived on time and even participated in helping put together the final touches on the decorations.

Nonetheless, a visual storyline will communicate the feel and beauty of the couple better than we can with our words. So please sit back and enjoy a few favorites from this fantastic wedding. Also, be sure to check us out on Facebook and Instagram for updates on the latest with Viridian Images Photography, Atlanta’s premier wedding photographers.
